Preparing for your wedding and subsequent honeymoon is probably one of the most fitness-focused times of any woman's life. So why not carry your results and new habits through beyond your honeymoon so you can look and feel great all through your new life as wife. I mean, you can't so much pack a treadmill or dumbbells in your suitcase, so how to stay fit while away? Here are a few simple tips that will help you avoid any extra travel weight on the way home:
First things first, realize that you aren't going to be able to do your normal workout away from the gym you go to. It's best to aim for just half of your normal workout, and allow for much needed relaxation and enjoyment time. Trying to stick to your rigorous schedule can feel daunting (and not very vacation-like) so it's better than setting too big a goal and then skipping it completely.
Be a planner. You planned the rest of your honeymoon, so why not plan the fitness that will go into it. See what kind of gym your hotel has (if they have one at all) and other accommodations that will help you plan your workout the way you want it.
Use the trip to your advantage by going on a fitness vacation. Or search out physical activities blended with sightseeing and experiencing the area- such as hiking up a volcano, snorkeling, or bike tours. If you're walking a lot then take that into consideration too. Just because you're on a trip doesn't mean you can't be active while enjoying the location.
Heading someplace tropical? Simply get moving in the pool to stay cool. Water aerobics, swimming and even water walking can keep you in shape without you even noticing it.
Most importantly, just because you're on a trip doesn't mean you should eat whatever you want in unlimited quantities, so eat right when on vacation! Stick to your general diet and how you would eat at home. Obviously have a little fun (I mean you are on your honeymoon!), but keep portions small and don't feel like you need to eat the entire dessert just to enjoy that indulgent happy feeling. Do this and you'll come home the same way that you left.
Your honeymoon is one of the best experiences of a lifetime. It shouldn't be a time where everything you worked for health-wise gets thrown out the window, so taking a few common sense steps in the right direction will go a long way.
